PRINTMAKER, DISPLAY AND INSTALLATION ARTIST
Kim Weiss is an artist and printmaker from Milwaukee, WI. She earned her BFA in Printmaking from Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design in 2004 and had a hand in creating and managing the community printshop at RedLine Milwaukee from 2009-2015. She currently works out of her home studio in the Bay View neighborhood of Milwaukee, working primarily in relief printmaking mediums.
Kim has 14 years of experience as a Senior Display Coordinator for the retail store Anthropologie at Milwaukee's Historic Third Ward location. Display artists are proficient in a variety of mediums including woodworking, fiber arts, sculpture, and mural painting creating elaborate in-store installations and window displays.
Kim's current personal art practice explores using printmaking techniques to create installation art, pushing the medium of linocut relief printing into 3D and experimental forms. She takes inspiration from the natural world, vintage textile pattern, decorative arts, and stage set design.
